Cedars of Lebanon

I just discovered this U2 song Cedars of Lebanon from their  album “No line on the horizon” (Feb 2009) it tells the story of the war.Very nice song if you are fan of U2 , Bono is the second international artist who bring attention to Lebanon after chris de Burgh's song ''Lebanese Night''.. Enjoy it

Transformers in Beirut !!!

Walking through the old streets of Beirut I  see old houses destroyed, not by an Israeli invasion nor by the stupid war, but this time by the transformers big machines destroying all the old nice buildings of our history and transform it to a luxury skyscrapers.

Attracted by the high real estate prices, people are selling their land or old houses. Since the government has done little to help landlords who may want to renovate and preserve old structures, the marker demand for such buildings is low.

(Bullet Holes in the Wall. These bullet holes, from the Lebanese civil War).
For some those walls tell war stories and it is not interesting to preserve them no matter what loses are presented.

In my opinion the destruction of Beirut’s old houses is a loss of our identity, and destroying it means the loss of a whole architectural heritage
Why anyone doesn't do anything about it ??
Whom to blame?

Giant Trunk in the Heart of Beirut!

Last week when driving through Allenby street, I saw a great display in front of a building that grab my attention , in fact it is a giant trunk, announcing the new opening of the famous Louis Vuitton first Boutique in the Best capital In The World Beirut.

Great creative simple window display without any Light effects , without any classic announcement like (opening soon) but the famous monogrammed canvas is the theme of the window display , that shows the brand strength .This brand has its lovers in Lebanon and Beirut is a great place to sell luxury goods especially with the tourist visiting this lovely capital in every occasion.

Two Events One day!

Yesterday I visited the Byblos flower festival ,it was so difficult to take nice pictures in a very crowded place lot of tourists and Lebanese from all over Lebanon celebrating Mother’s day and the Spring! Happy Mother's Day to all moms around the world and Happy Spring.

Martha Stewart is cooking for ZWZ !?!?!

When you say:
Coffee it is Starbucks
Burger it is McDonalds
Man'ousheh deffinetly it is ZWZ (Zaatar w Zeit)

Zaatar W Zeit was first opened in 1999 in Sodeco Beirut. The main aim was to offer the traditional Man'ousheh and pizza. everything is "Aa tari'tak", meaning as you like it. Zaatar w Zeit, is indeed the Lebanese version of McDonalds "

Last week I ordered a simple cheese Man'ousheh and I was choked by the price 5000LBP/ 3.5$ for a simple dough with cheese! you can order the same one in Beirut and maybe taste better for maximum 2000 L.B.P 1.3 $ why ZWZ Man'ousheh is overpriced !!?
Because of the Brand notoriety
The expenses?
The Premium quality?
Is Martha Stewart the Chef ?!?

None of the above can justify the overpricing of a simple Man'ousheh! when this item should be reachable by all social classes, it is like you are paying 5000L.B.P for a pack of Lebanese bread khebez instead of 1500 LBp. 1$
Compare it to similar products from the most reputable companies this Man'ousheh is overpriced… Why you can have a great knafeh form the best palace of sweets premium quality for maximum 3500L.B.P ? knowing that the ingredients and the preparation for a knafeh needs more effort and time than a Man'ousheh , or a pain au chocolat from chez paul for 3500 LBP…??

Personally  I am not convinced by this price and will boycott all ZWZ products until the management will review their marketing plan ,not because I can’t afford this 5000 L.B.P…. but for the Principle!!

Meanwhile I will take the advice of Rita Khoury and try a delicious Man'ousheh Zaatar for 1000 L.B.P or a Cheese Man'ousheh .for 2000 L.B.P in Ain al Remene Thanks Rita!

Dancing for the Yellow!!!

Leo Burnett & Exotica are missing chances!

I just Knew that this campaign was for (Valentine) and not (New resolution for 2010)

Every time Exotica bombard Lebanese with great billboards Ad for every occasion, very smart and creative campaigns , I was looking forward to that brilliant ideas on every occasion but  this year I was disappointed !! From Christmas 2009 to Mother's day Leo Burnet and Exotica are missing chances to impress the Lebanese with great and smart ideas , what shocked me the most was the first Mother's day Campaign (for the Good Or Bad) I was asking myself: "What are they trying to sell here?" a plastic surgery?
So what’s the Message? It is bad to have a big nose !?!
"What are they trying to sell here?"
Exotica's point of view:

“well just based on the fact it is creating controversy & difference of opinion is in itself a success to us. Thank U !”
On the other hand I was impressed by the effort Exotica and Leo burnet made, when driving home I saw another new campaign for Mother's day to replace the first one ! That prove their professionalism and they listen to what the customer wants...

The new campaign in my opinion is not smart or creative at all but it is another very classical Ad for Mother's day....or it is here to correct the first one...
Hope the new 2010 occasions Leo bernet and Exotica will bring us some more special fresh and unique ideas!

Yes Dogville is a Pet shop!! Weird ! !

Yellow is the color....

Last week samer karam said on Twitter that Pikasso is giving away a YELLOW Fiat 500 for the best yellow-themed photo at City Mall. Yesterday I went there for more details so I visited a pikasso yellow booth  and I have received a stamp that allow me to enter the competition to find any yellow object in the Citymall between 26th of February and the 7th of March. It was so easy to find that yellow object but I was searching for something unique .. so I took three nice pictures and download it here.
Good Luck for you all.
