I made the mistake recently of thinking that I could find a parking
lot in Achrafieh on a busy Monday morning and run into my meeting…
I drove around searching for a parking space for about 20 minutes
before I just gave up and drive back home. Nothing
bothers me more than this yellow sign that says no parking allowed.
I was thinking why we don’t have a Smartphone parking app like BestParking that
provides real time information to drivers about the traffic and about the availability
of free or paid parking in Beirut.
An app like this can save a lot of time, stress and even reduce pollution, due to less driving around.
Is it complicated to develop this app in Beirut?

Alternatively, you could take the bus to Dora for 1,500 Liras, then a service to Sassine for 2,000 Liras, and walk for 20 meters to your client's meeting. You pay the same thing on the way back (unless you are stingy like me and go down on foot - yes, on foot! - to Elecricite du Liban from Sassine (trust me the walk is wonderful!) and pay only the bus fair from there on to Byblos)... I haven't driven since 2001 and I am still alive (interesting, having someone drive for you also allows you to take photos for your blog without having to concentrate on driving!)
Cool idea :D
the app is not hard to make but it's hard to update it and feed it with live info because either humans or censors will do that job and both are hard to implement.
too bad!
