Don: A new Asian In Beirut

I’m constantly on the hunt for new restaurants! Whether it’s understated and cool street food joint or a luxury dining one, because trying new cuisines is just like traveling…
Last week I have discovered a new Asian: “Don Eatery” that has just opened in Restos Saint-Nicolas new cluster in Achrafieh, by the successful serial food entrepreneur Mario Jr Haddad.

The interior is simple and bright; There’s a “communal” table in the middle to take you out of your comfort zone, sitting with strangers, and plenty of little tables and benches here and there as well as a lovely terrace. A wide open kitchen lets you meet the Asian professional cooks while they are preparing your order in a bowl. The atmosphere is pleasant, very calming, and the crowd is mostly young but appreciative of good food.

The delicious affordable menu is inspired by the street foods of Korea, Thailand, Japan, Singapore… with friendly and efficient service.

We have tried the Duck Donburi: Tender shredded duck leg in teriyaki sauce with a side of rice and cooked and raw vegetables, this is by far my favorite – Make sure to try it when you are visiting.

Singapore Noodles: noodles are packed with vegetables, shrimps and made with rice flavoured with curry and soy sauce. This is my Go To bowl- Delicious!

Pad thai, The Pad Thai is perhaps my least favorite, but still good.
My partner in crime Maya loves also the Shachu Shoyu Ramen: Pork and Chicken with marinated eggs in a bowl of hot broth, as Mario says: “common sense in a bowl”!

Surely gonna re-visit this place soon. A must try if you crave for Asian Food…
